Over the Christmas holidays, I worked on a significant upgrade to MyChemLab.ai—and I’m excited to share it finally.
MyChemLab now supports teachers, classrooms, assignments, and grading, making it easier to use in real educational settings.
I’m the founder of MyChemLab, and I’m also an 8th-grade student. This update was inspired by feedback from teachers who sought more effective ways to manage students, assign work, and track progress—without adding complexity to their workflow.
👩🏫 Teacher & Class Management
Teachers can now:
Create and manage multiple classes
Invite students via email, class links, or CSV uploads
Assign students the STUDENT role automatically
Remove students or delete classes when needed
Students only see the classes they’re assigned to, keeping everything secure and organized.
AI-Generated Assignments
Teachers can create assignments using a prompt, and AI will generate questions based on:
Grade level
Topic
Teacher instructions
Curriculum
Supported formats include:
Short answer (Q&A)
Problem-solving
Multiple-choice
Assignments are stored as structured questions and can be reused across different classes, saving teachers time and effort.
🧪 Student Workspace & Auto-Grading
Students complete assignments directly on the platform, utilizing a built-in workspace to review their work before submitting.
Once submitted:
AI automatically evaluates the assignment
Grades are assigned instantly
Teachers can review and override grades if needed
For now, grading utilizes a simple points system, with flexibility for teachers to adjust the weights of questions.
📊 Grades & Progress Tracking
Teachers can:
View grades for all students in a class
Define how much each assignment contributes to final grades
Retain access to student grades for up to 6 months, even after a class is deleted
What’s Next?
This update is just the beginning. My goal with MyChemLab is to make science learning more interactive, accessible, and practical—for both students and teachers.
If you’re already using MyChemLab, thank you for being part of this journey. If you’re new, I’d love for you to try it out and share feedback.
More updates coming soon 🚀
